What is a great natural small venue for an elopement – just bride, groom, minister and witnesses?
Want to get married in Seattle on August 27 while we are vacationing there. We want to just have us (he’s 47, I’m 39) an officiant and required witnesses, in some natural setting. I’ve looked at several venues, but they are all for actual weddings with guests, caterers, etc. All I want is photographer to take some pics, a great bouquet and place to go after for dinner/dancing/partying. Any suggestions? We are outdoorsy, artsy, not formal, dress and rings are vintage, prefer natural/historical/unusual setting to make it memorable and seems like we shouldn’t have to pay to rent a venue as we have no guests. Suggestions/comments welcome!
Where can I find information about 1940′s and 50′s style weddings?
For ideas and such…. I already have my dress which is an Olega which looks like a vintage style… I was thinking more of general decor and style.
Vintage/ Victorian Wedding?
Hi all! My wedding is this June 2008. I dont want to have a themed wedding but I want to add some stuff from the theme “victorian” or “vintage” weddings. My dress looks very vintage so I thought this would be a good fit. I can’t decide what to do with the centerpieces and candles around the centerpieces??? I know I want to have pale pink peonies. Also, any ideas on the ceremony–for vintage touches?? If anyone has every done this before I’d LOVE to see pictures. ica2905@yahoo.com Thanks for your help
I need a dress for a wedding…where do I find a cheap old hollywood dress?
One of my friends is getting married and I’ve only been to two weddings ever… I think this is a very traditional wedding. I am covered in tattoos so I want something very tasteful… I was thinking old Hollywood would probably be great. The girl that is getting married looks like a walking pin-up girl. Does anyone know a good site to get a vintage looking dress for around 100 dollars?
I do not want to cover my tattoos. No one there cares…besides, I’m a tattoo artist… that would be silly.
Which dress do you like the most?

we had hurricane vases (clear glass) with cream candles inside and flowers (roses, pale pink, cream & maroon) around the candles, with petals scattered in the middle of the table. the tables were rectangular & sat 6 people. we had 3 vases down the middle.( this would also suit round table)
i hope you figure it out without much stress, good luck planning
Honestly, they all look like dresses little girls used to wear to play dress up.
The yellow one looks like a little kid would wear it.
The purple one looks too little kiddish, again.
The pink one looks like pajamas/what the fem-bots wore on Austin Powers.
The green/blue one isn’t too bad, but then again that might be because of how the model looks with it on.
The blue on is very fairytale.
But hey, whatever floats your boat.
It’s not like we’re the ones that are buying the dress and going to wear it about, go with what you TRULY LIKE, not what the people on here tell you they like the most.
What about a bed and breakfast? If you are staying there while vacationing than I would see no reason for them to say no. It would probably be good for business too, if you gave them a picture to use in a brochure. Or you could try a Seattle park, I’m not sure about the fees, since it is such a small wedding, you might not even need a permit. Calling the scheduling office couldn’t hurt. Hope it helps. Good Luck.
If you’re considering going the black-tie route, how about an Art Deco 1930′s look? It was an era that is reminiscent of elegant Hollywood-style glamour.
Polaroid cameras and photos are definitely retro, and they’re making a ‘new age’ come back because unlike digital or 35mm photos, the Polaroids develop instantly. When they’re combined with notes from all your friends and family the instant photo guest book becomes a memento filled with memories that will last forever!
Set the tone you’re trying to create from the start with wedding invitations that reveal the theme you’ve chosen for your wedding. Custom designs can be easily accomplished with just a few keyboard strokes! Display 1930s-era sophistication with heavy, cream-colored paper stock and deco-style type fonts which can be further accented with period clip art.
You can order custom-designed stamps from the Post Office that will reflect the mood you’re trying to convey before your guests even open the invitation envelope! (Some suggested examples: New York’s Deco Rockefeller Center or Empire State Building, vintage cars, etc)
Since your wedding is the start of your own personal love-in, treat your guests to some retro style wedding favors like love For the 1930s wedding theme idea, linen handkerchiefs for both men and women will add a nice vintage touch. Or DVD copies of your favorite old comedy movie are sure to delight your guests – and the cover can feature you and your groom in place of Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn for a fun reminder of your own classic romance!
