Thirteen - Toddler Halloween Costumes - Dress Your Baby As A Kitten
The tastes and personalities of children will change as they grow older. Choosing toddler Halloween costumes early on may be a parent's only chance to have a say in what their child wears on Halloween. It won't be long before your child is old enough to assert their own opinions regarding what they will wear these and other holidays. So parents should take advantage of these fleeting moments and go all out when choosing toddler Halloween costumes.
Deciding on a costume can be a difficult task. There are many options available, and each year new concepts appear. If you want your toddler to stand out, you will have to be original! Otherwise, they will blend right in with all the other little kids costumes. If you are having trouble coming up with something unique, start with a theme. http://www.costumecauldron.com/shop/halloween-costume/TODDLER-COSTUMES-title0-p-1-c-58.html
Living things is a good place to begin for potential toddler Halloween costumes. Be careful to avoid the "overdone" pitfalls, such as the cute little black and yellow bee baby outfit, or the cuddly teddy bear look. Instead, add flair to these common ideas, or go all out with something completely new! It may be a childs holiday, but that does not mean you can't get creative as well.
Trick or treating can be extra exciting as you stroll the streets with your baby dressed as something less common. A giraffe would be much more exciting to see than a bunny rabbit. A creature for the sea is also more unique than the ones which live on land also; when was the last time you saw a sea otter on Halloween. Toddler Halloween costumes should be unique if you can help it. http://www.costumecauldron.com/shop/halloween-costume/INFANT-BABY-COSTUMES-title0-p-1-c-82.html
To go the extra mile this Halloween, consider adding accessories to our toddler Halloween costumes. A stroller modified to look like a space ship would be so cute to push your little astronaut around in for trick or treating. A parent could even dress up in a complimentary way to their child; mom could be the zookeeper as she pushes around her little penguin. There are no rules to the fun you could have!
You can add special bells and whistles to a store bought toddler Halloween costumes or simply make your own. Be sure to think about safety when deciding what your little one will wear. This means avoiding outfits that have things dangling from it that your child would be tempted to place in its mouth. His Halloween should be fun and without hazard for your toddler.
Come prepared! Little children will be little children, messes will happen. This is why it is always a good idea to think "cheap" when constructing a costume or adding to one. Don't use that expensive designer fabric, instead opt for a cheaper alternative that may wind up stained in juice and drool. It can still be a cute baby outfit without being expensive.
Toddler Halloween costumes can be a parent's last chance at dressing their kid on this holiday. When they begin to get older you will find them asserting their own ideas and opinions about what they should be for Halloween. Be sure to have a camera nearby to take lots of photos for your photo album. As they grow up and move out you will be happy to have a record of all those cute toddler Halloween costumes you used to dress them in. They may not want to look through those pictures when they get older, but you can be certain their spouses and children will! Edited by Hetsil Protage

So what’s on your(or your toddlers) wishlist for your toddler’s 2nd b-day/xmas? ?
Lol- Okay, so my daughter’s 2nd b-day is literally 11 days before xmas- and I’m starting to save up money now for 1 big gift(around a 100) 5 medium gifts(under 50) and several smaller gifts to be split between both days. She may also end up having 2 parties again this year, one right after Thanksgiving when we go visit my family, and then the one around her real birthday where we live by my boyfriends party.
I think her big gift will either be a toy kitchen(a cabinet in our kitchen won’t work, it’s too small, we tried and I almost slit my wrist tripping over a toy while on my way to the sink, lol) or a radio flyer liberty horse sspring bouncer thing. I know she’ll be getting board books, a dress up chest with things from the dollar store and clearance halloween costumes in it, lol) clothes, and if we can, her first bike/trike. So what things are you planning on buying for your two year old for xmas? I want age appropriate ideas that will grow with her.
Thanks!
Post-pregnancy event???????????????????
My cousin got married last weekend and is having a reception back home in a few weeks on the 8th. My daughter will be 1 month old the 7th. My Mom bought her a fancy dress to wear and now I have to figure out what my son and I should wear. I think it’s pretty informal but since my daughter has the fancy dress (it was an easter dress from walmart my Mom got on clearance for $3 but it’s got lacy and ruffles and everything) I want to figure out something for my son and I that won’t look goofy since it will just be the three of us since Daddy has to work, he can’t take the time off since he took off a bunch when I had the baby. So any ideas what I should dress us in? I know that my cousin that got married doesn’t have a wedding dress it’s just a short white dress she got from vonmaur. I have a white dress that has big red and black flowers on it but I didn’t know if that was inappropriate or not? I’m kind of limited as to what I can wear cause I’m breastfeeding, I have to be able to chase my toddler, and I don’t want to be uncomfortable. Plus I’m like at a weird size. I was a 5 before I had my toddler and then from breastfeeding I got down to a 0 and I didn’t buy any sizes in between because I didn’t know what was wrong with me cause I kept losing weight well then I stopped bf him and got pregnant so I then went to maternity clothing. So I’m not a 5 but I’m not a 0 either and I only have a small small amount of clothing to work with and once again I don’t want to buy anything that may not fit in a month you know. So I have like two choices for dresses either a plain black one or the one I already mentioned. I may have a few skirts but it’s not likely. So what should I do? Thanks. Oh and if I dress my son in a polo and plaid shorts with tennis shoes is that dressy enough? Thanks.
Sorry I know it’s stupid to worry so much over an outfit but my cousin is a lawyer and I don’t want to look like the hillbilly’s from down south. I feel like I’m always having to prove myself with my family because I’m still in college and currently working part-time and my fiance works full-time but he got laid-off from his good job to work at a crappy one until he finds something else, so they are always questioning my money situation. So I don’t like to have anything out of place around them cause I don’t want them to feel sorry for me. I choose this life and we are happy but my family doesn’t understand that.
If you had to pick one store to dress your children out of, which would it be?
Just a fun question. If you had to only buy clothing from one store for your babies or toddlers (or even older children), which store do you think you would patronize? I know it would be a hard choice, as there are sooo many cute things out there.
My choice would be Gymboree…only the clearance racks though. I can’t afford to buy full price there. But I get some great deals off the sales racks. My hubby hates it when I go there
My daughter’s birthday is December 30 so I feel your pain girl!!
Actually I’m really excited, mine will be 2 as well. I plan on getting her the most awesome play kitchen I can find, because she is always all up in my kitchen! I want one that has a million things to do and I want EVERYTHING to make a sound. Annoying or not I know she will love it! As far as other presents I’m going to buy every toy food, pots and pans, dishes I can find to go with it.. I’ve been researching them for a while trying to find the best ones and I haven’t made a decision but I have read great reviews on how the higher priced kitchens last longer and there are children who play with them for 2 or more years which is cool. My daughter really likes digging and stuff so I am thinking about getting her a sandbox too, I had one when I was little and I loved it.. my husband says it’s unsanitary but if it’s just her playing in it and I keep it clean so what?! Also, books books books! My baby loves them and I buy at least one new book for her a week. I also want to get her (inflatable or hard plastic depending on money situations
) a castle or house or something to play in, you know so she can play house, or w/e she wants.. I just know she would love something like that. I’m going to get her lots of dress up things too…. I found this Disney vanity but not sure if she’s really big enough for it yet.. she’s so prissy already though, I HAVE to paint her toenails and brush her hair, and we can’t go near the shoes in the store without her screaming shoes and pitching a fit for new ones! Ahh! I’m so glad I had a girl, lol. I hope your holidays are great!! I am really looking forward to mine!
To be on the safe side I would wear the black dress and you could always dress it up with jewelry. However, the white dress with red/black flowers sounds fun too. I think it would be OK to put your son in a polo and shorts – there really aren’t that many options for boys! Good luck and have fun!
wal-mart! i have a little boy.. he ruins/outgrows clothes way to fast to be able to afford to be replacing anything more expensive! lol besides.. wal-mart does have some cute cloths for babies and little kids!
Can someone name that type of fabric style?
Recently I went shopping for a wedding gown and I found this beautiful and unique (a bit unusual) dress that was beige in color and had a bit of an odd design. I do not know what it is called but I know that it resembles the kind of stitching that is found on toddler’s clothing collars (clothing that is white in color). I think it has a french name. It kind of looks like small holes and has stitching around it. It is usually found in white. Btw the dress I am referring to I tried on in Group USA that was on clearance but unfortunately I never reserved it and I fear that I can never find it again.
Help is GREATLY appreciated
Sounds like what is typically called “eyelet” fabric, but you might find as Broiderie Anglaise, Swiss Embroidery or Victorian Embroidery. Yardage typically goes by “eyelet”; Swiss and Victorian embroidery typically are terms used for trims, and Broiderie Anglaise to handwork (though the bridal shops seem to use it for eyelet). Eyelet organza is what I’ve often seen in bridal work:
